Lief lid,
Afgelopen maand vond de eerste reis van het jaar plaats: de Wintersport! Een week lang hebben we mogen skiën op de prachtige pistes van Saint Sorlin d’Arves en genoten we van geweldige activiteiten, georganiseerd door de Wintersportcommissie. Na deze geslaagde reis hebben een aantal van ons kunnen aanschuiven bij het heerlijke recruitmentdiner en hebben we ons weer van onze beste kant laten zien tijdens het broertjesfeest. Ook de jaarlijkse biercantus was een absoluut hoogtepunt. Een avond vol gezelligheid, zang en mooie herinneringen!
Inmiddels is het maart en staat de lente voor de deur. We trappen de maand af in het mooie Friesland, waar we samen met maar liefst 50 QBD’ers genieten van een fantastisch Ledenweekend. Ook daarna staat er weer een volle activiteitenagenda klaar. Zo organiseert de Carrièrecommissie op 3 maart een bezoek aan het Ministerie van Justitie en Veiligheid en vindt het volgende feest van de Feestcommissie alweer plaats op donderdag 5 maart.
Op 16 maart organiseert de Cultuur- en Entertainmentcommissie de gezellige spelletjesavond ‘Ik hou van QBDBD’. Deze avond staat volledig in het teken van plezier, teamwork en natuurlijk gezelligheid, dus meld je vooral aan! Houd daarnaast ook de Instagrampagina goed in de gaten voor de volgende activiteit van de Sportcommissie op 19 maart.
We sluiten de maand maart af met onze volgende reis: Studiereis 1-2 naar Madrid! Een reis waar we enorm naar uitkijken.
Kortom, er staat weer een maand vol leuke activiteiten op de planning en we hopen jullie bij zoveel mogelijk momenten te mogen verwelkomen!

Dear member,
Last month marked the first trip of the year: the Skitrip! We spent an amazing week skiing on the beautiful slopes of Saint Sorlin d’Arves while enjoying fantastic activities organized by the Wintersportscommittee. After this successful trip, some of us attended the delightful recruitment dinner, and we once again showed our best selves during the Brothersparty. The annual beercantus was also an absolute highlight, an evening filled with gezelligheid, singing, and wonderful memories!
March has now arrived and spring is finally around the corner. We are kicking off the month in the beautiful Friesland, where no fewer than 50 QBD members are enjoying a fantastic Members’ Weekend. The rest of the month also promises a full agenda of activities. On March 3rd, the Career Committee will organize a visit to the Ministry of Justice and Security, and the next party hosted by the Party Committee will already take place on Thursday, March 5th.
On March 16th, the Culture and Entertainmentcommittee will host the fun game night ‘I Love QBDBD’. This evening will be all about fun, teamwork, and, of course, gezelligheid, so be sure to sign up! Additionally, keep an eye on our Instagram page for the next activity organized by the Sports Committee on March 19th.
We will close the month of March with our next trip: Study Trip 1-2 to Madrid, a journey we are very much looking forward to!
In short, another month full of exciting activities lies ahead, and we hope to welcome you at many of them!

Dear Member,
I hope you’re enjoying the spike in temperature as much as I am. Spring is around the corner, the sun is shining, and the terraces are calling our names. Although classes and deadlines are still very much present, ILS has made good use of the longer daylight hours this month to organise some fun activities.
Last month kicked off with the social committee hosting an event to showcase the amazing voices within our association: karaoke night. The evening was filled with singing, laughter, and nostalgic throwback songs, definitely a night to remember!
In February, the Career Committee didn’t sit still either, organising a “Pathways in Law” networking event with various professionals to connect with. It was an evening full of engaging conversations, new insights, and the opportunity to ask plenty of questions. Both enjoyable and valuable, the event offered meaningful advice about the many different paths law students can take after university.
February was also the month in which my board and I held our second General Members Meeting. During this meeting, we presented our revised budget, shared an update on what we’ve been working on since October, proposed amendments to the Rules of Procedure, and of course heard updates from our committee chairs about what their committees have been up to.
This month also marked the long-awaited reveal of the ILS Trip 2026 destination. Over the past few months, the Travel Committee has worked hard to create and plan an unforgettable experience for our members. With a creative video and a room full of enthusiastic and curious members, the committee revealed that this year’s trip will be to Paris! If you’re ready to enjoy croissants and live your own Emily in Paris moment for a few days, don’t forget to send your application letter to theinternationallegalsociety@gmail.com by Tuesday 3 March at 23:59.
In addition to the trip deadline, our committees have been busy planning even more activities. On Monday 2 March, the Career Committee will host a MUN-style debate together with three other associations. We’ll be discussing relevant legal topics, guided by legal professionals. As with all Career Committee events, this is a great opportunity to develop your debating skills while networking with professionals and fellow motivated students.
This month, the activity committee is also bringing you another exciting event that combines Dutch culture with a fun night out. On 18 March, the committee will be hosting a beer tasting. If you’d like to challenge your taste buds and discover some new flavours, be sure to sign up soon as tickets are limited!
Alongside all these exciting events, March is also the birthday month of three out of four board members. If you know who I’m referring to, make sure to congratulate them and perhaps have a drink on their behalf ;)

Après-ski feest
De koude maanden laten we bijna achter ons, maar voordat we de zon echt verwelkomen, sluiten we het winterseizoen in stijl af. Tijd om nog één keer je beste winterlook uit de kast te trekken en samen een onvergetelijke avond te beleven!
Op donderdag 5 maart zijn jullie welkom bij Cooldown Café aan de Lange Leidsedwarsstraat voor het 2026 X-feest. Van 21:00 tot 00:45 maken we er een gezellige après-ski avond van. Let op: de deuren sluiten om 22:00, dus zorg dat je op tijd bent.
Voor slechts €6,- ben je erbij. Trommel je vrienden op, trek je leukste outfit aan en laten we er samen een topavond van maken!

On Thursday, March 5, join us at Cooldown Café on Lange Leidsedwarsstraat for the 2026 X-party. From 21:00 until 00:45, we’ll be turning the place into the ultimate après-ski atmosphere. Please note: the doors close at 22:00, so make sure you arrive on time!

Binnenkort vinden de verkiezingen voor de Facultaire Studentenraad (FSR) Rechten plaats. De FSR vertegenwoordigt de belangen van alle rechtenstudenten binnen de faculteit en heeft een belangrijke stem in het faculteitsbeleid. Denk hierbij aan onderwerpen zoals onderwijskwaliteit, tentamens, studiebegeleiding en andere zaken die jouw studie direct raken.
Wil jij meebeslissen over het onderwijs en de toekomst van onze faculteit? Dan is dit je kans om je verkiesbaar te stellen! Zie bovenstaande voordelen om te zien wat raadslid zijn jou te bieden heeft.

Wintersportreis
Afgelopen maand reisden we af naar het prachtige Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves voor een onvergetelijke wintersportweek. Het was een reis vol gezelligheid en mooie momenten met elkaar.
Overdag werden de pistes volop verkend en werden ski-vaardigheden verbeterd (met wisselend succes). Zodra de zon achter de bergen verdween, maakten de sportieve dagen plaats voor gezellige avonden vol muziek en feest.
De commissie had daarnaast verschillende leuke activiteiten georganiseerd, waaronder een legendarische Beer Olympics: een reeks uitdagende spellen waarbij teamwork, creativiteit en bierbestendigheid centraal stonden. Ook vond er op de eerste dag een gezamenlijk diner plaats met de hele groep, een perfect moment om samen te komen en de week goed te beginnen!
Kortom: een geslaagde reis waarin sportiviteit, gezelligheid en onvergetelijke herinneringen perfect samenkwamen. Een wintersport om niet snel te vergeten! ⛷️
Ski trip
Last month, we travelled to the beautiful mountain village of Saint-Sorlin-d'Arves for an unforgettable winter sports week. It was a trip filled with great company and many memorable moments together.
During the day, the slopes were thoroughly explored and skiing skills were improved (with varying degrees of success). As the sun disappeared behind the mountains, the sporty days made way for lively evenings filled with music and celebration.
The committee had also organized several fun activities, including a legendary Beer Olympics: a series of challenging games in which teamwork, creativity, and beer endurance took centre stage. On the first day, a group dinner was held with everyone, providing the perfect opportunity to come together and start the week off right.
All in all, it was a highly successful trip where sports, socializing, and unforgettable memories came together perfectly, a winter sports experience not to be forgotten!

Broertjesfeest
Op donderdag 12 februari hebben we samen met CDP en Cicero Coco’s Outback compleet rood gekleurd, en wat was het gezellig! Van goede muziek tot levendige dansvloer en outfits die helemaal in het thema pasten. We hebben er een topavond van gemaakt! De sfeer zat er vanaf het begin goed in en tot het einde is er volop gedanst, gelachen en genoten.
Brothersparty
Together with CDP and Cicero we turned Coco’s Outback completely red on February 12th, and what an amazing evening it was. From great music to a packed dance floor and outfits that perfectly matched the theme, you truly made it unforgettable. The energy was there from the very beginning, and the party didn’t slow down for a second. Exactly how we imagined it.

Biercantus
Na een eerdere verplaatsing vanwege de weersomstandigheden kon de jaarlijkse Biercantus eindelijk plaatsvinden, en wat was het het wachten waard!
We hebben samen weer een prachtige editie van deze mooie traditie beleefd. De zang klonk luid, het bier vloeide rijkelijk en de sfeer zat er vanaf het begin goed in. Jullie kwamen massaal en volledig in thema, wat zorgde voor een fantastische, beestachtige avond.
Kortom: het was weer een cantus zoals een cantus hoort te zijn vol energie, gezelligheid en ongekende dorst. Op naar de volgende editie!
Beercantus
After being postponed due to the weather conditions, the annual Beercantus finally took place, and it was more than worth the wait!
Once again, we experienced a wonderful edition of this great tradition together. The singing was loud, the beer flowed generously, and the atmosphere was on point from the very start. You all showed up in great numbers and fully embraced the theme, which made for a fantastic, truly wild evening.
In short: it was a cantus exactly as a cantus should be, full of energy, great vibes, and an unquenchable thirst. On to the next edition!
