Lief lid,
De eerste weken van het nieuwe jaar zitten er alweer op! We hopen dat jullie de eerste tentamens goed hebben afgesloten en met een frisse blik aan het komende blok beginnen.
De commissies hebben alles behalve stilgezeten! We kijken terug op een ontzettend geslaagde eerste maand van het nieuwe jaar. Zo hebben we samen genoten van de film Jumanji tijdens een gezellige filmavond met pizza en andere lekkernijen. Daarnaast brachten we een ontzettend interessant kantoorbezoek aan Streefkerk Onderwijsrecht. Ook de Sportcommissie was actief en organiseerde een dart- en poolavond, en natuurlijk hebben we volop kunnen genieten van alle prachtige outfits tijdens het gala. Tijdens het gala is de Reis 1-2 bestemming bekendgemaakt. Eind maart zullen we afreizen naar het mooie Madrid!
De Wintersportreis is natuurlijk niet het enige leuke dat deze maand op de planning staat. Op 11 februari organiseren we een recruitmentdiner, waar je op een informele manier kennis kan maken met Simmons & Simmons, BarentsKrans en de Rechtspraak. Een mooie kans om in gesprek te gaan en meer te leren over de verschillende organisaties. Op 26 februari stappen we opnieuw de padelbaan op, dit keer samen met Dentons! Wederom een laagdrempelige en sportieve manier om kennis te maken met een groot Zuidas-kantoor.
Naast de juridische activiteiten zijn er ook nog genoeg andere evenementen te beleven. Op 12 februari organiseren we samen met Cicero en CDP het jaarlijkse Broertjesfeest, dit jaar helemaal in het teken van Valentijnsdag. Daarnaast staat op 24 februari de Biercantus op de planning. Deze kon in januari helaas niet doorgaan vanwege de sneeuwstorm, maar is inmiddels verplaatst. Heb je nog geen kaartje? Wees er snel bij, want vol = vol!
Kortom: een maand vol leuke activiteiten, en dit is nog niet eens alles! Houd onze Instagram goed in de gaten voor updates en aankondigingen. We hopen jullie bij zo veel mogelijk activiteiten te zien!

Dear members,
The first weeks of the new year have flown by! We hope you wrapped up your first exams successfully and are starting the upcoming block with a fresh mindset.
The committees have certainly not been idle! We look back on an incredibly successful first month of the new year. We enjoyed a movie night together watching Jumanji, complete with pizza and other snacks. We also paid a very interesting office visit to Streefkerk Onderwijsrecht. The Sports Committee has organized a darts and pool night, and of course we were able to admire all the stunning outfits during the yearly gala! During the gala, the destination for Trip 1-2 was revealed. At the end of March, we will be traveling to the beautiful city of Madrid!
Of course, the ski trip is not the only fun event planned this month. On February 11th, we are organizing a recruitment dinner, where you can get to know Simmons & Simmons, BarentsKrans, and the Rechtspraak in an informal setting. A great opportunity to start conversations and learn more about the different organizations.
On February 26th, we will once again step onto the padel court, this time together with Dentons! Once again, an informal and sporty way to get to know a major Zuidas law firm.
In addition to the legal activities, there is plenty more to enjoy. On February 12th, we are organizing the annual Brothersparty together with Cicero and CDP, this year entirely themed around Valentine’s Day. Furthermore, the Beercantus is scheduled for February 24th. Unfortunately, it could not take place in January due to the snowstorm, but it has now been rescheduled. Don’t have a ticket yet? Be quick, because full = full!
In short: a month full of fun activities, and this isn’t even everything! Be sure to keep an eye on our Instagram for updates and announcements. We hope to see you at as many activities as possible!

Dear Member,
As I am writing this, I cannot believe that the first month of 2026 has already passed. Although it was an academically busy month with lectures, work groups, and exams, ILS itself was not too busy. However, February will be a month full of very exciting ILS events.
The month is starting off strong with a networking event planned by the career committee today. This event will be a unique one, as it provides an opportunity for our members to connect with professionals and academics across diverse legal sectors, exploring the various pathways and opportunities available after university. It is sure to be an interesting and useful evening!
Not only has the Career Committee been busy planning an activity for the upcoming month, but the Social Committee and Activity Committee have also been enthusiastically planning new events. On the 10th of February, the Social Committee is organising an evening to test your vocal limits and sing the night away with some karaoke. I am looking forward to hearing all your beautiful voices! And if you haven't gotten a ticket yet, make sure to buy one, as there are still some left. See you there!
As mentioned, the Activity Committee is also planning another intriguing event this month: a scavenger hunt through Amsterdam on the 13th of February. The scavenger hunt will be a fun way to get to know Amsterdam better, featuring highlights of various icons of the city. The evening will end in a bar to catch up on all the adventures you experienced and to enjoy a free drink! There are still some tickets available for this event, so if you haven’t already, make sure to sign up and maybe you’ll win the prize at the end of the night!
In addition to all the exciting committee events this month, ILS will also hold its second General Members Meeting on the 23rd of February. This meeting will give the board the opportunity to provide updates on our work so far, as well as to make some necessary changes to the Rules of Procedure, followed by the usual committee round given by the committee chairs! Further information can be found in the GMM e-mails sent last week and in the e-mail that will be sent next week with additional details. However, if you have any questions or doubts, you are of course welcome to email the ILS e-mail address, and I will be happy to help. My board and I look forward to seeing you there!
Lastly, to end the month with a bang, we have the members’ weekend in Friesland coming up. All members of QBDBD and ILS who signed up will enjoy a weekend full of fun activities and socialising! It is bound to be a very, as we say in Dutch, “gezellig” weekend, full of new friends and great memories.
As you can read, February will be a packed, exciting, and fun month for ILS and its members! Make sure to keep an eye on your email and our Instagram for further updates so you don’t miss anything.

Broertjesfeest
Februari vraagt om gezelligheid, muziek en een beetje rood, en dat is precies wat je kunt verwachten tijdens het Broertjesfeest! Op donderdag 12 februari slaan QBDBD, CDP en Cicero Amsterdam de handen ineen voor een feestelijke avond bij Coco’s Outback. Met het thema 50 Shades of Red geven we een subtiele knipoog naar Valentijn.
De avond duurt van 21:00 tot 01:00 (deuren sluiten om 22:00) en tickets zijn verkrijgbaar voor €4,50 via de website. Let op: het aantal tickets is beperkt, dus zorg dat je er op tijd bij bent!

Brothers association party
February calls for coziness, music, and a touch of red, and that is exactly what you can expect at the Broertjesfeest! On Thursday, February 12th, QBDBD, CDP, and Cicero Amsterdam are joining forces for a festive night at Coco’s Outback. With the theme 50 Shades of Red, we’re giving a subtle nod to Valentine’s Day.
The party will take place from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM (doors close at 10:00 PM), and tickets are available for €4.50 via the website. Please note: the number of tickets is limited, so make sure to get yours in time!

Streefkerk Onderwijsrecht
Op 13 januari brachten we een kantoorbezoek aan Streefkerk Onderwijsrecht in Utrecht. Tijdens dit interessante en leerzame bezoek kregen we een goed beeld van de praktijk van het onderwijsrecht en de dagelijkse werkzaamheden binnen het kantoor. Er was volop ruimte voor vragen, inhoudelijke gesprekken en het uitwisselen van ervaringen. We hebben de middag afgesloten met een borrel, waar we verder konden praten met de werknemers van het kantoor. We kijken terug op een zeer geslaagd en inspirerend kantoorbezoek!
Streefkerk Onderwijsrecht
On January 13th, we paid an office visit to Streefkerk Onderwijsrecht in Utrecht. During this interesting and educational visit, we gained valuable insight into the practice of education law and the day-to-day work at the firm. There was plenty of room for questions, in-depth discussions, and the exchange of experiences. We concluded the afternoon with drinks, giving us the opportunity to further connect with the employees. We look back on a very successful and inspiring office visit!

Gala
Op 14 januari vond ons jaarlijkse gala plaats. Het was een avond vol elegantie, gezelligheid en onvergetelijke momenten. In prachtige outfits genoten we van een feestelijke sfeer, goede muziek en natuurlijk goed gezelschap. Het was dé gelegenheid om samen te proosten, te dansen en het nieuwe jaar in stijl af te trappen. Een avond om met veel plezier op terug te kijken!

On January 14th, our annual gala took place. It was an evening full of elegance, great company, and unforgettable moments. Dressed in stunning outfits, we enjoyed a festive atmosphere, great music, and of course wonderful company. It was the perfect occasion to toast together, dance, and kick off the new year in style. Definitely an evening to look back on with great pleasure!

Poolen & darten
Op 16 januari was het tijd voor een sportieve én gezellige avond bij Plan B, georganiseerd door de Sportcommissie. Onder het genot van een drankje namen we het tegen elkaar op tijdens fanatieke potjes poolen of darten. Of je nu strak mikte op de triple 20 of vooral kwam voor de gezelligheid, er werd volop gestreden! Kortom: een geslaagde activiteit waar sport en gezelligheid perfect samenkwamen!

On January 16th, it was time for a sporty and fun evening at Plan B, organized by the Sports Committee. While enjoying a drink, we competed against each other in enthusiastic games of pool and darts. Whether you were aiming for a perfect triple 20 or mainly there for the good vibes, there was plenty of friendly competition. In short: a successful event where sports and socializing came together perfectly!
