Lief lid,
We zijn alweer aangekomen in de laatste maand van 2025. Nog even doorzetten en dan kunnen we volop genieten van de feestdagen en een welverdiende kerstvakantie! Maar voordat we die ontspanning opzoeken, staan er nog een aantal leuke activiteiten op de planning.
De Borrelcommissie trapt deze maand af met een borrel op 3 december. Trek die cowboyhoed maar uit de kast en kom met ons mee naar café Los, die omgetoverd wordt tot een echte western saloon!
Ook heeft de Sportcommissie een activiteit voor ons in petto, namelijk glowgolf op 5 december! Laat je skills zien, probeer die hole-in-one te scoren en geniet vooral van een sfeervolle middag.
Op 8 december organiseert de Carrièrecommissie een interessante lezing van een strafrechtadvocaat. Een mooie kans om te ontdekken hoe het eraan toe gaat én om al je vragen te stellen. Hopelijk zien we jullie daar!
Voordat we kunnen beginnen aan de kerstvakantie, komt eerst de laatste tentamenweek van het jaar eraan. Om jullie hier zo goed mogelijk bij te supporten, organiseren wij weer de QBDBD Study Hours. Wij zorgen voor een rustige studieruimte waar jullie ongestoord kunnen knallen voor jullie tentamens!
Na afloop van de tentamens is het tijd om lekker te ontspannen tijdens de tweede activiteit van het Eerstejaarscollectief op 19 december. Een gezellige activiteit speciaal voor eerstejaars, we hopen jullie daar te zien!
Wij wensen jullie alvast heel veel succes met de tentamens en heel veel plezier tijdens de feestdagen!

Dear member,
We’ve already reached the final month of 2025. Just a little longer and then we can all enjoy a well deserved Christmas break! But before we head into full relaxation mode, there are still some fun activities planned.
The Borrelcommittee will kick off the month with a borrel on December 3rd. So put on your cowboy hat and join us at Café Los, which will be transformed into a real western saloon!
The Sports Committee also has a fun activity in store for us: glowgolf on December 5th! Show off your skills, aim for that hole-in-one and enjoy a fun afternoon together.
On December 8th, the Careercommittee will host an interesting lecture by a criminal defense lawyer. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn more about criminal law and to ask all your burning questions. We hope to see you there!
Before we can start our Christmas break, the final exam week of the year is approaching. To support you in your preparations as best we can, we are once again organizing the QBDBD Study Hours. We will provide a quiet study room where you can focus and get some serious work done!
After the exams, it’s time to relax during the second activity of the First Year Collective on December 19th. A cozy event just for first year students. We hope to see many of you there!

Dear Member,
As I am writing this, I cannot believe this is the last newsletter of 2025. The year has flown by and 2026 is around the corner. But before we end the year, let’s recap the past month and, seeing as the year isn’t quite over, let’s also look at what December still has to offer!
The month of November started with the Career Committee’s visit to the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. During the visit, we received a lecture from Miguel Deleito, who works as a legal assistant counsel at the court. It was very interesting to hear from him about the history, function, and structure of the PCA. At the end, there was an opportunity to ask questions, which was a unique chance to learn even more about the PCA. Overall, it was a very informative and unique experience!
Next, we had the Dies Natalis party, also known as the birthday celebration of QBDBD and the ILS. Although a Halloween-themed party in November is a bit out of the ordinary, the night was a special one with dancing, flowing drinks, and a very exciting announcement revealing this year’s destination for the legal trip: Panama! We as the ILS board couldn’t be more excited! If you feel the same, and you’re a 3rd-year or master student, don’t forget to sign up before the 7th of December!
Another exciting event this month was the Dutch movie night organized by the activity committee. With snacks ranging from homemade poffertjes to popcorn and pepernoten, the movie night was a cozy way to end a busy week. And although the movie Familie Klaus was a children’s movie, it was definitely very entertaining and had its fair share of plot twists! (iykyk)
Lastly, to end the month, our board has spent months organizing a collaborative day with the international law association from the University of Groningen: Nexus. Both the Nexus board and 15 members of the association traveled to Amsterdam to spend a fun day together with us. The day started with an interesting moot court accompanied by environmental law expert Bent Bos, where we researched and argued a compelling case concerning environmental law. To end the day, we went bowling, where we saw both the social and competitive sides of the ILS and Nexus members and boards. Overall, it was a very successful day, and we hope to see Nexus and its members again next year!
Although the year is coming to the end, the Social Committee has one last organized activity to end the year with a bang: the christmas pub quiz. For the 3rd year in a row, as tradition and part of ILS’ history, the committee has organized the pub quiz but now bigger and better! It will be an exciting evening full of teamwork, competitiveness, drinks and prizes!
To end this month’s newsletter, I want to wish everyone reading this lots of luck for the upcoming exams and a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Enjoy relaxing, spending time with family, good food, and all the presents!

Glowgolf
Op vrijdag 5 december organiseert de sportcommissie een mega leuke activiteit, namelijk glow in the dark minigolf! Laat Sinterklaas nog maar even wachten, want wij gaan eerst een hole-in-one slaan, genieten van gezelligheid en stralen tussen alle lichtgevende banen. We hopen jullie daar te zien!

Lezing strafrechtadvocaat
Altijd al benieuwd geweest hoe het is om strafrechtadvocaat te zijn? En hoe het is om je eigen praktijk te runnen? Dan wil je deze activiteit absoluut niet missen! Op maandagmiddag 8 december ontvangt de Carrièrecommissie strafrechtadvocaat Mr. Henk Brink. Hij heeft onder andere de bekende advocaat Bram Moszkowicz bijgestaan nadat hij zijn ambt had neergelegd. Tijdens deze interactieve en inspirerende lezing vertelt hij over zijn loopbaan, hoe het strafrecht er in de praktijk uitziet, het menselijk aspect binnen het vak én nog veel meer.

Lecture criminal defense lawyer
Ever wondered what it’s like to be a criminal defense lawyer? And what it’s like to run your own firm? Then you definitely don’t want to miss this event!
On Monday afternoon, December 8th, the Career Committee welcomes criminal defense lawyer Mr. Henk Brink. Among other things, he assisted Bram Moszkowicz after he resigned from office. During this interactive and inspiring lecture, he will share insights about his career, what criminal law looks like in practice, the human aspect of the profession, and much more.

Dies Natalis
Deze maand is QBDBD 133 jaar geworden! We hebben dit jubileum groots gevierd in de Tapmarin op 12 november, met een fantastisch eerste feest georganiseerd door de Feestcommissie.
Tijdens het feest maakten we ook bekend dat de Legal Experience aankomend jaar naar Panama gaat! Samen met 30 enthousiaste studenten duiken we daar in de lokale cultuur en de juridische wereld. Dies Natalis party
This month, QBDBD turned 133 years old! We marked this special milestone with a big party at the Tapmarin on November 12th, the first party organized by the Party Committee.

Talkshow Eva
Op 17 november hebben we de bijzondere kans gehad om een kijkje te nemen achter de schermen bij de talkshow Eva, gepresenteerd door Eva Jinek. We begonnen de dag met een exclusieve rondleiding door de studio, waarbij we alles te weten kwamen over de voorbereidingen, techniek en het reilen en zeilen achter een live-uitzending.
Daarna woonden we de live-uitzending bij. Het was een unieke ervaring om te zien hoe het team samenwerkt om een talkshow vlekkeloos op televisie te krijgen. Na afloop kregen we de mogelijkheid om op de foto te gaan met Eva Jinek zelf, wat het bezoek een onvergetelijke afsluiting gaf!

Talkshow Eva
On November 17th, we had the unique opportunity to visit the Eva talk show, hosted by Eva Jinek. We started the activity with an exclusive behind the scenes tour of the studio, learning all about the preparations, technology, and the inner workings that go into producing a live broadcast.
We then attended the live show, which was an incredible experience to see the teamwork and coordination required to deliver a seamless television program. After the broadcast, we even had the chance to take photos with Eva Jinek herself, making the visit unforgettable!
