Lief lid,
De eerste periode van het collegejaar zit er alweer op en we hopen dat jullie tentamens goed zijn gegaan. Wij hebben enorm genoten van de afgelopen maand samen met jullie! De eerste commissievergaderingen hebben inmiddels plaatsgevonden en er zijn zelfs al enkele leuke commissieactiviteiten georganiseerd. Zo heeft het Eerstejaarscollectief een gezellige borrel bij Pong georganiseerd om samen stoom af te blazen na de tentamens. Daarnaast heeft de Borrelcommissie haar eerste borrel gehouden, geheel in het thema van Gossip Girl. Afgelopen vrijdag sloten we de maand sportief af met de eerste activiteit van de Sportcommissie, waar onze leden in teams de strijd tegen elkaar aangingen.
De maand november staat volledig in het teken van QBDBD, want onze vereniging is jarig! Op 14 november viert QBDBD haar 133ste verjaardag en gaat zij haar 134e levensjaar in. Dit bijzondere moment willen we groots vieren met jullie tijdens het Dies Natalis-feest op 12 november! Daarnaast ben je op 14 november van harte welkom in de ledenruimte voor een gezellig praatje en een lekker stuk taart.
Verder hebben we nog veel meer leuke activiteiten voor jullie in petto. We trappen de maand af met het jaarlijkse Actieve Ledendiner op 5 november, waar we met al onze actieve leden genieten van een heerlijk diner en een drankje bij Café Plan West. Op 11 november staat er een kantoorbezoek bij CMS gepland, en op 17 november gaan we met de Cultuur- en Entertainmentcommissie een live uitzending van Eva bijwonen! Houd de socials dus goed in de gaten, deze evenementen wil je niet missen!
Het bestuur kijkt ontzettend uit naar de komende maand en hoopt jullie bij veel activiteiten te zien.

Dear member,
The first period of the academic year has already come to an end, and we hope your exams went well. We truly enjoyed the past month together with all of you! The first committee meetings have now taken place, and several fun committee activities have already been organized. The First Year Collective hosted a cozy get-together at Pong to unwind after the exams. The Borrelcommittee also held its very first event, themed Gossip Girl. Last Friday, we ended the month on a sporty note with the Sports Committee’s first activity, where our members competed against each other in teams.
The month of November will be all about QBDBD, because our association is celebrating its birthday! On November 14th, QBDBD turns 133 years old and begins its 134th year. We’ll be celebrating this special occasion in style with all of you during the Dies Natalis party on November 12th! You’re also warmly invited to stop by the members’ room on November 14th for a friendly chat and a slice of cake.
We also have plenty of other exciting activities planned for you. We’ll kick off the month with our annual Active Members’ Dinner on November 5th, where we’ll enjoy a delicious meal and drinks together at Café Plan West. On November 11th, we’ll visit the law firm CMS, and on November 17th, we’ll be attending a live recording of Eva with the Culture and Entertainment Committee! Make sure to keep an eye on our socials, you don’t want to miss these events!
The board is really looking forward to the upcoming month and hopes to see many of you at our activities.

Dear member,
Autumn is officially here, bringing wind, rain, and chilly days with it. The first round of exams have fortunately passed, and I hope everyone either took some time to relax afterward or used it as an excuse to celebrate Halloween! ;)
October has been another busy month for our association. We kicked off the month by welcoming our new active members, introducing them to their committees, roles, and fellow committee members. The board is super excited about the new committees and can’t wait to see the amazing events they will organize this year!
This month we also held the first General Members Meeting of the academic year. It was wonderful to see so many familiar and new faces present. During the meeting, the board shared updates on policy plans from the previous General Members Meeting, and the new committees were formally introduced.
Towards the end of the month, the Social Committee organized the first event of the year: a murder mystery evening. Although no one guessed the murderer correctly, the event was full of free drinks, heated discussions, and some wonderfully creative alternative theories: from the “secret affair” idea to the “accidental suicide” theory. Overall, I’d say it was a huge success!
While October was exciting, November has plenty in store as well. To kick off the month, the Career Committee has planned an exciting visit to the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. This will be a unique chance to explore the court up close and discover how it works.
The Activity Committee also has its first event coming up on November 21st: a Dutch movie night with a variety of Dutch snacks! It’s the perfect chance to relax, pick up a bit of Dutch, and enjoy some free snacks. If you ask me, it sounds like an ideal way to unwind on a Friday evening!
Finally, to end the month with a bang, our board has organized a day trip in Amsterdam with the International Student Association of Law from Groningen, Nexus, on November 28th. The day includes an interactive legal activity to practise your skills with guidance from a legal expert, followed by a social activity where you can mingle with Nexus members, relax, and have fun!

Kantoorbezoek CMS
Neem een kijkje achter de schermen bij CMS, een van de grootste advocatenkantoren van Nederland én onderdeel van een internationaal netwerk met kantoren in meer dan 40 landen. CMS biedt juridische diensten aan op gebieden zoals ondernemingsrecht, vastgoed, belasting en arbeidsrecht.
Tijdens het kantoorbezoek zal het kantoor een korte presentatie geven over het kantoor en de (stage)mogelijkheden. Daarnaast zal externe partij KnappeKoppen een workshop verzorgen over onder andere sollicitatie skills, jullie toekomstige zelf (als advocaat) en softskills. Na de workshop gaan we speeddaten met advocaten van verschillende praktijkgroepen en we sluiten het bezoek af met een informele borrel!

Dies feest
QBDBD bestaat 133 jaar en dat laten we natuurlijk niet onopgemerkt voorbijgaan. Dit jaar vieren we onze Dies Natalis met een Halloween-thema, dus trek je engste outfit uit de kast!
Verwacht een avond vol gezelligheid, griezelige muziek en misschien een paar enge dansmoves. Tijdens het feest wordt ook de bestemming van de Legal Experience bekendgemaakt, dus zorg dat je erbij bent. Je wilt de andere enge verrassingen ook niet missen, inclusief een prijs voor beste outfit!

Meet the Court vindt plaats op 28 november 2025, van 13.30 tot 17.00 uur! Grijp deze unieke kans om in gesprek te gaan met professionals uit de Rechtspraak.
Tijdens dit evenement, georganiseerd door Career Services Rechtsgeleerdheid, QBDBD en de Rechtspraak, kun je vragen stellen aan rechters, raadsheren en gerechtsjuristen over hun werk en loopbaan. Daarnaast is er een plenaire sessie over de verschillende carrière- en opleidingstrajecten binnen de Rechtspraak.

Organized by Career Services Law, QBDBD, and the Judiciary, the event allows you to ask judges, justices, and judicial clerks about their careers and daily work.
A plenary session will also highlight career and training opportunities within the Judiciary.
After Exam Ping Pong
Later in de maand heeft het Eerstejaarscollectief haar eerste activiteit georganiseerd. We zijn met een groep eerstejaarsstudenten naar Pong in Amsterdam gegaan. We hebben gezellig een potje gepingpongd en hebben een avond vol plezier gehad waar de studenten elkaar beter hebben leren kennen.

After Exam Ping Pong
Last month, the First Year Collective organized her first activity. With a group of first-year students we went to Pong in Amsterdam. We had a night full of ping pong and fun where the students had the opportunity to get to know each other better.
Gossip Girl borrel
Ook de Borrelcommissie heeft haar eerste borrel van het jaar neergezet, die geheel in het teken stond van Gossip Girl. Café Mulder was omgetoverd tot onze eigen Upper East Side, waar we veel van onze welvarend geklede leden mochten verwelkomen voor een drankje en een borrelhapje.
Nate Archibald en Chuck Bass zouden trots zijn geweest op al die stijlvolle outfits en de drama aan de bar.

The Borrelcommittee also hosted its first event of the year, entirely themed around Gossip Girl. Café Mulder was transformed into our very own Upper East Side, where we welcomed many elegantly dressed members for drinks and snacks.
Nate Archibald and Chuck Bass would have been proud of all the stylish outfits and the drama at the bar.
